MOHAIR
Made from the hair of the Angora goat, Mohair is known as the ‘Diamond fibre’ due to its natural lustre and sheen. It’s one of the oldest textile fibres in use today. Wool doesn't get fluffier than this!
Beautifully soft, lightweight and extremely warm, our mohair throws come in two soft, muted tones - natural and taupe - with delicate fine fringing detail. The perfect throw for adding a bit of instant heat if you feel a little chilly sitting on the sofa or in the garden.
Its mohair's unique characteristics that make it such a popular luxury yarn for throws and clothing. Mohair absorbs dyes really well and has excellent insulating properties, being warm in the winter and cool in the summer due to its moisture-wicking attributes. Other great characteristics that make Mohair such a wonderful fabric is its durability, elasticity, flame-resistance and crease-resistance.
As Mohair is a delicate fabric, our luxury Mohair throws are more suitable used as a knee throw or decorative chair throw, rather than as a blanket for your bed.
Mohair is a very soft yarn and it lacks the prominent scales of other wools, so it is often blended with wool or alpaca and a small amount of nylon. This enables the mohair fibres to hold their shape and stick together when spun. Mohair fibre is 25–45 microns in diameter.
Our mohair throws are lovingly made in the UK by one of the world's top woollen mills. World leaders in dyeing, spinning, weaving and creating beautiful products that you can cherish for a lifetime.
