Our wool tumble dryer balls are the eco-friendly way to reduce your tumble drying time and a natural softening alternative to dryer sheets and fabric softener. Hand-made in Nepal with 100% New Zealand wool, our dryer balls will reduce your energy usage and save you money. What's not to like...

You will receive a pack of four 7cm balls in a cotton bag. To use, add your dryer balls to your tumble dryer with your wet washing. Your dryer balls will reduce tumble drying time by around 25% and last for approximately 1000 dryer loads.

Scooms wool tumble dryer balls are free from chemicals, non-shedding and don't attract lint. Once you've finished with your drying balls, we suggesting hanging them outside as they make great bird nesting material.

Materials:

  • Hand-made in Nepal from 100% New Zealand wool.
  • You will receive a pack of four 7cm balls in a drawstring cotton bag delivered in plastic free, recyclable packaging.

How to use:

  • We recommend using four wool tumble dryer balls with each drying load.
  • Just add them to your tumble dryer with your wet washing.
  • Wool dryer balls need space to work best so they will be most efficient in medium to small-sized washing loads.
  • After use, leave your dryer balls in your dryer ready for the next load.

If you want to add a favourite smell to your dry laundry:

  • AFTER your laundry has dried, add wool dryer balls that have been 'soaked' for 20 minutes with 2 to 6 drops of essential oil. Run the load again on a non-heat setting for 10-20 minutes.
  • WARNING, only use essential oil 'soaked' wool dryer balls on a non heated tumble dry setting. Heating essential oils to a high temperature in a tumble dryer is a fire risk.
  • We suggest keeping one set of wool dryer balls without essential oils and one set with essential oils.

The eco-friendly way to reduce your tumble dryer drying time:

  • Wet laundry tends to clump together in the tumble dryer, slowing down the drying process and increasing the drying time. Wool dryer balls separate the laundry allowing hot air to circulate more evenly and efficiently.
  • By creating air gaps, dryer balls enable your dryer to heat the laundry more quickly and suck the evaporated water out of the dryer more efficiently.
  • Tumble dryer balls agitate against the fibres in your bed linen and clothing so your washing will also feel softer when you take it out of the dryer.

Scooms Wooly Balls

Recently bought an LG heat pump tumble dryer so can’t really give much of a review. However the balls are very nicely presented and delivery was speedy. I am sure they will assist in the drying process.

Not sure how effective these are…

Can’t fault the product choice, customer service or delivery. All great! Bought these to use in a laundrette tumble dryer, and not sure if I’m using them correctly… haven’t noticed any difference to the drying quicker or preventing sheets getting tangled, but will keep using!

Great product!

I have a washer/dryer which doesn’t dry as efficiently as a dryer on its own would. Items were very creased and often not dry. I’ve been using the Wool Tumble Dryer Balls for several weeks now and I have definitely noticed an improvement! Great product!

Frequently asked questions

Wool dryer balls are much quieter when they bounce around your washing machine drum than plastic dryer balls. Plastic dryer balls can shed microplastics so they are not as environmentally friendly as wool. Wool dryer balls are also more durable than plastic balls, so they will last you for more washes.

Tennis balls will work to an extent as they create air gaps in your laundry which aids drying. However, natural wool will also soften your laundry. Be aware if you use tennis balls though, as they may contain plastics and other chemicals which can leach into your laundry or form microplastics which enter the water system and end up in our lakes and seas.

Your Scooms wool dryer balls will last for around 1000 dryer loads. Pretty good, I'm sure you'll agree.
