How to care for your linen bedding

Pile of Freshly Cleaned Linen Bed Sheets and Pillowcases in White, Pink and Grey | scooms

Our linen bedding has been pre-washed so it is up to you whether you choose to wash it before use. We gently garment wash our linen in small batches to relax the fibres resulting in soft, supple and amazingly comfortable bedding from night one.

You can wash our linen bed sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases in the washing machine. Just follow the instructions on the care label and see our care tips below. We recommend that you wash your linen bedding every 7 to 10 days.

Your linen's naturally crumpled texture and super-soft feel will improve with each wash. Plus, there's no need to iron!

How to care for your linen bedding

To keep your Scooms linen bedding in tip top condition:

Washing:

    1. Wash your linen separately using mild detergent at 40° or go greener at 30°.
    2. Separate your linen from the rest of your laundry and wash your linen whites and colours separately.
    3. Avoid overcrowding your machine or washing your linens alongside heavy items, like towels or jeans, as this could cause your linen to lose its shape.
    4. Use a good quality mild laundry detergent which works well at lower temperatures.
    5. Do not use bleach or fabric softener.

    Drying:

    1. Tumble dry at lower heat & remove from the machine before your bedding is completely dry, then hang or spread out to finish drying naturally.
    2. Be careful not to over-dry your linen as this can weaken the natural fibres and may cause deterioration.
    3. Linen bedding takes less time to dry than cotton bedding.
    4. Use our Wool Dryer Balls when tumble drying to reduce drying time and creases naturally.
    5. Air drying your linen bedding is best for longevity, but it can leave the linen feeling a bit stiff which is why we recommend a combination of machine and air drying.

    Ironing:

    1. There's no need to iron your linen bedding as its meant to look rumpled.
    2. Reduce wrinkles naturally by air drying your linen before it has fully dried in the machine.
    3. Or remove your bedding from the machine while slightly damp and immediately make your bed. Smooth down your linen sheets and covers and pull taut to minimise creases.
    4. Iron damp if desired being careful not to iron too hot and scorch the linen.

      Storing:

      1. Store your linen set inside your pillowcase so that it's always easy to find.
      2. Linen is the world's strongest and most durable natural fabric, so look after your scooms linen bedding carefully and it will last a long time.
