Eco-friendly duvets
How environmentally friendly is your duvet? Not all duvets, pillows and toppers are made the same way. The method of manufacture has a big effect on the environmental impact. Natural duvet, pillow and topper fillings
We opted to only use the finest, natural Hungarian goose down and feather in our duvets, pillows and toppers; avoiding synthetic materials containing micro-plastics and petrol chemicals that is common in so much mass produced bedding. Take a look at our fillings guide to learn more.
Sustainable production
Our lovely family run suppliers in Hungary are leaders in Hungarian down & feather processing, focusing on efficiency and REAL sustainability, from animal welfare to every step of production. Proudly STeP accredited for their manufacturing processes. Ecological responsibility is in their DNA!
They use over 70% renewable energy when crafting our duvets, pillows and mattress toppers and are working towards 100% of energy used from renewable resources by 2030.
Chemical free, thermal spring water washing process
Our Hungarian goose down and feather is washed in natural, crystal clear thermal spring water (32°C) straight from underground aquifers. It requires no chemicals and no heating. You can be reassured that there is no formaldehyde or other toxic substances used in our washing process. Oeko-Tex 100 accreditation verifies that our products have been tested against harmful toxins and chemicals.
We go out of our way to preserve the natural properties of our down. Excellent turbidity and oxygen ratings means our down and feather filling is super-clean / hypoallergenic. Making them a great choice for allergy sufferers. Our No-mite certified 100% cotton casings also mean that our duvets, pillows and toppers are suitable if you have a house dust-mite allergy.
Small batch production & fresh bedding
We decided from the launch of scooms, to only produce a small range of top quality bedding because we wanted to focus on only making the best. A range of superior bedding options providing better night's sleep that are a great investment for our customers.
Our duvets, pillows and toppers are produced in small batches. Each product is hand finished and individually reviewed. We sell out of everything we make, resulting in less waste, short storage times and lovely fresh, newly made bedding!
Biodegradability
Natural fillings such as down and feather are biodegradable, reducing the waste in landfill. In fact it could be great fertiliser for your garden! Take a look at our guide on what to do with your old bedding.
Environmentally friendly packaging
Rather than using plastic wrapping, we use material storage bags for our bedding. It's then delivered in fully recyclable Forest Stewardship Council certified shipping boxes: Verifying that the forest-based materials used during production have met the FSC chain of custody requirements at every step in the supply chain, from sourcing to distribution.
We seal our boxes with recyclable paper packing tape and avoid including any paper inserts.
Sustainable delivery
We use DPD to deliver our bedding in the UK. Aiming to be the UK's leader in sustainable delivery, DPD are rated as one of the most sustainable delivery companies.
