Duvet materials:

  • Filling: 90% Hungarian goose down & 10% selected small white Hungarian goose feather.
  • Fill power: 700 high fill power.

  • Thread count: 300 thread count with a special tight dust mite proof weave.
  • All season duvets: Includes a pack of cufflink fasteners. (All our duvets come with buttonholes so any different tog duvets can be fixed together.)
  • Feet labels: To let you know which way round your duvet goes. (We recommend turning your duvet around when you wash your duvet cover so that the feet label is at the top.)

Duvet care:

  • Shake your duvet after opening and then daily to keep the goose down fluffy and airy, and insulating at its best.
  • Protect your duvet with a duvet cover, preferably breathable cotton or linen. (An overly tight protector or cover can squash the down and affect the loft.)
  • Pull back your covers every morning to allow your down duvet to breathe and moisture to evaporate.
  • Machine wash at 40° every 6-12 months.
  • Line dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting for around 90 minutes, shake well, then hang to finish drying for 24 hours.
  • Replace your duvet every 5 to 7 years for maximum loft & insulation.

  • Tumble dry at lower heat and hang your linen out to air dry while it is slightly damp to avoid over-drying and damaging the linen.
  • Use Scooms Wool Tumble Dryer Balls to reduce drying time and creases naturally.
  • No need to iron as linen bedding is meant to be rumpled, but iron damp if desired, being careful not to scorch the linen. Or make your bed immediately with slightly damp bedding to reduce wrinkles without ironing.
  • Store your linen set inside your pillowcase so that it's always easy to find.

Scooms duvets come with feet labels so you can easily tell which way round the duvet goes. We realised that trying to figure out how your duvet fits in your duvet cover can be a real puzzle, so we added feet labels to our Hungarian goose down duvets to ensure you never get confused again.

Make sure you turn your duvet around each time you wash the duvet cover, so the feet end switches with the head end. This will help to maintain an even amount of loft/fluffiness. See our guide for more tips on How to put on a duvet cover.

The Scooms duvet has a 100% cotton casing with a special tight weave to ensure it is both down and dust mite proof. Each Scooms Hungarian goose down duvet is double stitched so they are robust and durable.

The 10% white feather we use in our duvets is high quality and deliberately very small in size so that the quills are soft. Our down and feather filling is also sewn into multiple pockets, trapping the filling in individual pockets to ensure an even spread across the duvet. All Scooms duvets come with matching buttonholes so you can easily fix two duvets together with our single-piece duvet fasteners. Every Scooms all-season duvet set you buy comes with a full set of duvet fasteners, plus spares. You can also buy extra sets of duvet fasteners.

How to use Scooms duvet fasteners:

  • First, lay the two duvets on top of each other so that the buttonholes match.
  • Then, push the fastener through one duvet buttonhole.
  • Next, push the other side of the fastener through the matching buttonhole of the other duvet.
  • Note, the fasteners should be removed before you wash your duvet.

Scooms goose down duvets are not noisy and there is no rustle or crinkle when you move around. Our duvets are encased in 100% Supersoft sateen cotton which won't make a noise when you or your other half roll over...

The reason that other brand duvets can be noisy is often because the casing is made with a stiff cotton or some kind of protective coating. Sometimes the noise lessens with use, but it frequently doesn't.

Scooms goose down duvets don’t smell. We carefully wash our goose down and feather in natural thermal spring water to remove any natural oils that could leave an odour. We don't use any chemicals in our production so there isn't any kind of chemical smell either. Our duvets are reassuringly Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, verifying that our duvet has been tested for harmful toxins and chemicals.

Duvet covers are always made to fit the same size duvet, so you don’t need to buy a bigger duvet cover size than your duvet. These are the standard UK duvet cover sizes - Single: 140 x 200cm, Double: 200 x 200cm, King: 230 x 220cm, Super King: 260 x 220cm, Emperor: 290 x 235cm. An Oxford pillowcase has a decorative fabric border around the edge, usually ranging from 5cm to 10cm. A Housewife pillowcase has no border, just a plain sewn edge. Both types of pillowcase are designed to fit the same size pillows. Scooms Egyptian Cotton Pillowcases have a 5cm Oxford border and our Linen pillowcases are housewife style.
