Trying to figure out which way round your duvet goes in your duvet cover can be a real puzzle. We've added feet labels to our scooms duvets so you'll never get confused again! See our guide for more tips on How to put on a duvet cover.
-
No! The duvet casing on our scooms duvet has a special tight weave to make it both down and dust mite proof so you would only very rarely find a feather escaping from our duvet. Each duvet is double stitched so they are robust and durable.
The 10% white feather we use in our duvets is high quality and deliberately small in size so that the quills are not stiff and hard as can be found with larger feathers. Our down and feather filling is also sewn into multiple small pockets, trapping the filling in individual pockets to ensure an even spread.
-
All our duvets come with buttonholes so you can fix two together with our pull apart snap fasteners. To fix 2 duvets together, lay one on top of the other so that the buttonholes match, then attach each part of the fastener to the outer sides of each buttonhole and push/snap the fasteners together. We recommend attaching one fastener to each duvet corner and then 3 on each side for double, king and super king size duvets. See our Duvet fastener guide for full instructions.
-
No! scooms goose down duvets are not noisy. Our goose down duvets don’t rustle or crinkle when you move around. scooms duvets are encased in 100% Supersoft sateen cotton with 300 thread count which doesn’t make a noise when you or your other half roll over!
-
No! scooms goose down duvets don’t smell. We gently wash our goose down and feather in thermal spring water without using harsh chemicals, so there is no animal or feather smell.
-
A standard size pillow is 50cm x 75cm (20” x 30”) and a king (super king) size pillow is 50cm x 90cm (20” x 35”). These are the two most common pillow sizes. Choose the pillow size you find most comfortable for you. Two king size pillows will fit perfectly across a super king size bed. See our Goose Down Pillows.
-
If you choose to use a pillow protector, make sure it is made from a breathable material like cotton and that the protector is not overly tight as this can squash the down and affect the loft of the pillow. See our guide on How to care for your scooms pillows.
-
Yes, you can wash our goose down and feather pillows in your washing machine. Follow the instructions on the care label. We recommend that you wash your pillow at 40° every 6-12 months or when required to keep your pillow filling fluffy. Make sure you dry your pillow carefully and shake your pillow during the drying process to unclump the wet down. Read our guide on How to clean your pillow.
-
Duvet covers are always made to fit the same size duvet, so you don’t need to buy a bigger duvet cover size than your duvet. These are the standard UK duvet cover sizes - Single: 140 x 200cm, Double: 200 x 200cm, King: 230 x 220cm, Super King: 260 x 220cm. See our Bedding size guide for sheets and pillowcase sizes.
-
An Oxford pillowcase has a fabric border around the edge, usually ranging from 5cm to 10 cm. A Housewife pillowcase has no border, just a plain sewn edge. Read Pillowcase guide to find out which type of pillowcase is best for you.
-
We recommend bedding made from natural materials if you sweat at night. 100% cotton sheets or 100% linen sheets will help keep you cool at night as they are both temperature regulating and sweat wicking. See our guide to The best bedding for night sweats.
-
A bath sheet is larger than a bath towel. Our bath sheet size is 100 cm x 160 cm (39.4 x 63 inches) and our bath towel size is 70 cm x 135 cm (27.5 x 53.1 inches).
-
Machine wash your towels once a week at 30°- 40° with a non-bio (enzyme free) detergent. Keep your washing temperature low to be kinder to the environment. There's no need to wash towels at a higher temperature anyway, as modern detergents are really effective.
-
Yes, there's no need to panic, it's quite common for slight pulls or snags to appear in new towels because the weave has not yet tightened up. Just snip off the pulled loop at the level of the pile with a pair of sharp scissors and you won't be able to tell that the snag was ever there. As our towels are woven, not knitted, your towel won't ladder or unravel.
